Pure Michigan Talent Connect is the State of Michigan's web-based talent matchmaking site and central hub for talent, employers and educators. Michigan Works! Livingston Service Center can be listed as the contact point on the Michigan Talent Bank and in other job postings. Applicants can fill out and submit applications, along with their resumes, at the Michigan Works! office. Michigan Works! is committed to helping area businesses increase the skills of their employees and develop their workforce to be competitive in the new global economy.  Whether you wish to upgrade the skills of your most recent hire or your most seasoned employee, our business training services are easy to use, flexible and customized to address the needs at your company.

Incumbent Worker Training Grants
You can apply for grants to update the skill of current workers. Our flexible application process can be used to train one or two key employees, or your entire workforce.  With our quick ForEmployersImg1turnaround time, you will know within 30 days whether your application is approved.

New Hire Scholarship Program
Help new hires advance their careers by providing scholarships to train them for more responsible jobs in your organization.  Your new employees can qualify for scholarships up to $5,000 per year for two years ($10,000 total).

Pre-Hire Training Program
Are you hiring a group of employees at one time? Work with a training provider to design a customized pre-hire training program so that your workers can be productive from day one.

Training Needs Assessment
Do you need a plan to use your scarce training resources most effectively? We can connect with resources to assess your company’s training needs, develop customized curricula, and to prepare a corporate training plan. We can also help you identify suitable training vendors.

On-the-Job Training Support
New hires are seldom fully prepared to handle all job responsibilities. Our OJT program can reimburse you for up to 50% of a new hire’s wages for a negotiated period of time, depending on the complexity of the job and the skills of the new hire.

Layoff Aversion

Layoff Aversion and Displaced Workers Services
Michigan Works! specializes in helping companies and workers in transition. We partner with local and state agencies to help distressed businesses return to profitability. If layoffs are necessary, we are available for early assistance to help the affected employees. We will provide on-site information programs to the laid off workers and will work with the employees to help them transition to new jobs. 

Layoff Aversion Services
Working with the Economic Development Council of Livingston County and other partners, we can connect troubled companies with resources that can help cut costs, develop turn-around plans, and identify new markets and growth opportunities.

Rapid Response
When a company notifies the state of a business closing or mass layoff, an on-site meeting is arranged with the business, union (if applicable), state officials and Michigan Works! staff to assess the company’s layoff plans, and gather background information on those facing a job loss to determine training and other needs that will facilitate rapid re-employment.

On-site Informational Services
Michigan Works! staff will conduct on-site meetings to provide information, support and resources to those affected by job loss that will enable them to make a successful transition back into the workforce as quickly as possible.

Outplacement and Job Search Counseling
We can provide on-site outplacement and job counseling services to your workers who are scheduled for layoff.
